“I can’t always hold your hands,” I huffed with a smile, letting go and laughing when his head slipped under the water. “You’ve got to learn to use your arms. That’s the only way you’re going to swim.”
Kai spit out the water in his mouth, running his fingers through his dripping, brown hair. “It doesn’t help when you drop me like that.”

I had finally made friends at school. Two of them, boy guys. Funny that I didn’t find them attractive even if one of them had brown hair like Kai. Whatever, I wasn’t gay or anything. Kai just happened to be a guy and I was in love with him. I still would not admit that to him though. I really needed to work on it.
Harley and Jimmy were a couple kids in my third block that sit behind me. I had forgotten a pen that day and ended up talking to them. We all liked older games and quickly became friends. I refused to let them come to my house yet, however. If they saw how rich my family was then they’d probably try and influence
School was rough after that. Turned out Holli was more popular than I knew and it spread quickly what had happened. One guy knocked my books on the floor and kicked them down the hall calling me gay. A few girls muttered and pointed at me before calling me ‘numb noodle’ and running off giggling. I even got a few kicks to the shin from some kids and someone who took my book bag and threw it down the stairs effectively breaking my phone.
No big deal, my parents could buy me a new one.
But that wasn’t what I was worried about. This was only the first day of this happening and it was only going to get worse.
Third block came
