If Things were Different: Rocket Knight Fanfic

In this short Fan fiction. Sparkster is 9 years old while Alex is 11 years old. This takes place in a Universe where they are both brothers.

It was a hot summer day around noon in the Kingdom of Zephyrus. Sparkster Sanjulo sat with his back against a tree outside enjoying his day off with his brother and his family. Sparkster wiped the sweat off his head with his tail. At this moment, Alex Sanjulo came outside to check on his little brother.

"Hey Sparks, are you behaving yourself?" Alex said always over protective of his little brother.

"Sigh yeah... you don't always have to check on me all the time" Sparkster said letting out of puff of air.

"But Mom and Dad put me in charge of you while they had to visit King Zebulos, so i'm the leader of you until they come back.

"Why are big siblings always like this?" Sparkster thought to himself while rubbing his golden hair. Alex began to open the side door that led to the town.

"Come on, Mommy told me to get something for us to eat with the money she gave to us".

"Oh alright, but i'm not gonna like hanging out with you, I'm a big boy" Sparkster said lifting his head up high and pouting.

"You still need a few more years to catch up to me kid..." Alex said very pridefully, happy to be the older brother. They were in the Kingdom's Market Square. The place had always been busy, it was full of customers that had fresh meats and vegetables. Alex, accompanied by his little brother Sparkster were inside a small store buying some food that their mother told them to buy with a small note instructing them what to get.

"Hmmm, lets see here what to buy..." Alex said.

"Ohhh, lets get this!" Sparkster pointed to a big bag full of Zephyrus candy.

"No, we have to follow Mom and Dad's instructions". Alex said with a low growl, Sparkster began to pout and sat in the corner where there was a chair, putting his hands under his chin bored.

"It says here that we have to buy fresh eggs and milk, and cottage cheese" Alex said shrugging.

"Great then look for it then, you're the so called "leader" Sparkster then said quote fingers.

"It would be nice if I can get a little help here" Alex said looking at Sparkster sitting down on the chair. And by that notion, Sparkster got up and stretched, uneager to help Alex with this quest.

"Sigh fine, lets go look the stupid milk and eggs, so I can get back to relaxing outside" Sparkster said in a bored tone. Alex nodded and then proceeded to press a yellow bell which indicated that a customer needed help. At this moment, a worker with a name tag "Joshua" came out of the attic from upstairs to help the boys.

"Who rang the bell!" Joshua said with a gruff voice.

"It was me Sir" Alex said holding onto Sparkster hand for his safety.

"What do you little kids want, hurry up, I don't have all day!" Joshua said crossing his arms.

"We need to look for some of these ingredients that our Mommy and Daddy gave to us to do for errands". Alex said carefully handing the paper over to Joshua trying not to upset him. He looked at the paper and then chuckled deeply.

"Well why didn't say something earlier, there's eggs alongside with cottage cheese over there near the right".

"Uh thanks" Alex said still a little scared of Joshua. Alex grabbed the food that he and Sparkster were assigned to do and gave them to Joshua to scan them.

"That will be a 9.56 Zephyrus Dollars". Joshua said in a voice that meant business talk, Alex reached for a 10 Zephyrus Dollar bill.

"Thank Zebulos Mother didn't give me a 5 Zephyrus Dollar bill, who knows what could have happened" Alex thought to himself with a sigh of relief as he handed the money over to Joshua as he took in a snap.

"You kids stay out of trouble and get out of my shop!" Joshua said with his voice.

"Sir yes Sir!" Screamed Alex and Sparkster in Unison as they both ran out of his shop and went outside.

"That guy kind of mean bully" Sparkster said.

"Thats just how old people are maybe" Alex said shrugging.

"Now can we go home now, this errand depleted my energy" Sparkster said pouting, blaming Alex for dragging him along this errand knowing fully well he could have done it by himself.

"Yeah lets go home" Alex said smiling.

"Hooray!" I hope Mommy and Daddy are back from their visit with Uncle Zebulos.

"Yeah me too..." Alex said taking his little brothers hand into his hand as they went home eager to spend time with their family.
